Brushwork Boot Camp
When: January 17th-19th, 2019 Thursday-Saturday
Where: Saluda, N.C. (studio)
Medium: Oil and/or acrylic
This indoor painting workshop provides a good learning and teaching environment for students to grasp the basic fundamentals of contemporary impressionist painting.
There will be an emphasis on values, temperature, and design, as well as bold and spontaneous brushwork. Fresh brushwork can connote a confidence in your painting which can be forgiving to other problems in the painting.
There will be lots of one-on-one easel time and demonstration by Jim on Thursday. The workshop is open to all levels, from beginners to advanced. A list of paint selections, brushes, etc. will be furnished after registration. ON Thursday afternoon, there will be a short, but very beneficial, exercise using the “40 brush stroke limitation.”
The workshop will be taught in Jim’s studio, which is on the second floor above the Azalea Bistro at 40 E Main Street Saluda, NC 28773.
Jim is a member of the Plein Air Painters of the Southeast (PAPSE), and an Associate member of Oil Painters of America and a Signature Member of the American Impressionist Society.
