Jim Carson AIS
Jim Carson, AIS, was the managing partner in the law firm of Chambless, Higdon and Carson, in Macon, Ga., where he practiced law for 31 years.
Although always interested in drawing, even at an early age, Jim began taking painting lessons in 1989, and his art journey culminated in 2003, when Jim retired from law practice, moved to Saluda, N.C., and now paints full time.
Jim is known for his creative color balance and bold and spontaneous brushwork. His favorite subject matter is catching and carrying the light and shadow patterns through a painting, whether in an outdoor landscape, cityscape, interior, or still life.
Jim has been recognized at a number of national events, including the Associate Member Award of Distinction at the American Impressionist Society Exhibition in 2015, Honorable Mention in Plein Air Richmond, and First Place in Plein Air Affair in St. Simons, Ga.
Recently one of his paintings was accepted in the 19th Annual American Impressionist Society Exhibition, held this year in Fish Creek, Wisconsin, Sept. 27-Oct. 28, 2018, and the 2018 Eastern Regional Exhibition of Traditional Oils in Annapolis, Maryland, Oct. 28-Nov. 25, 2018.
Jim is a Signature Member of The American Impressionist Society, a member of Plein Air Painters of the Southeast (PAP-SE), a group of distinguished southern artists, and an Associate Member of Oil Painters of America.
